And I thought 5 was a big number! Can't believe my baby is 1/2 a year old. It wont be long till we are celebrating her 1st birthday. I love watching her develop into her own person and seeing the changes that each month brings but it's also so bittersweet. Just happening so dang fast! This last month she has kept us busy but we have had so much fun with her. I never knew something so small could be packed with so much attitude....and temper! If she continues on this path she will be one strong willed little lady someday. Some of my friends with older kids tell me not to judge her personality until she's at least a year old. One of my coworkers with 5 kids, told me that the baby she had that was like Delaney as an infant, is now her quietest most reserved child. Whatever personality she develops, we will love either way. Can't wait to see what kind of little person she turns into.
What Delaney has been up to this month....
* She has been eating solids for almost a month now and loving it! She has loved almost everything we have given her and "hoovers" it down. I've said this before but ever since she was born, there has never been any doubt that this kid loves food. I guess her 9 lb. 2 oz. "little" body should have been the first clue:) The only thing she hasn't likes so far was avocados. I have a video of her reaction I've been meaning to post. It is so funny. She does loves sweet potatoes, rice and oatmeal cereal, carrots, applesauce, bananas, and peas. We gave her a teething biscuit the other night at dinner and she loved it too! It about gave me a heart attack though. I don't like that she was able to break chunks off. We had to watch her like a hawk.
*We still have sleep issues but considering she is only 6 months old, I can't complain to much. Every night brings something knew and her pattern is completely unpredictable. Except for the fact that she likes to sleep in and only wake up once when dad is in charge. So not fair! There have been times that she is still sleeping when I get home from work around 8:30, when Gary is in charge. I can't get her to sleep past 6, 7 if I'm lucky. About a month ago we transitioned her out of her car seat and into the bassinet after several long nights of little sleep. It seems to be going okay but I think we are getting ready to give her crib a try. I'm not looking forward to it at all. I will be so sad to not have her right next to me all night, but I'm hoping it helps her sleep better. Wishful thinking I know!
*She army crawls all over the place. Just in the last couple days she has started to get up on her knees and arms and rock. Lots of people say she is already crawling but I don't count it till she is up on all fours.
*She still doesn't like to be put down much but is getting better about entertaining herself. She is more content on the floor now because she can get into more things. She likes to get a hold of everything she shouldn't, like the dogs toys!
*She is still mesmerized by the t.v. I don't like it but she sure seems to love it! She also still loves watching the dogs. I'm pretty sure Brody is her favorite. She always smiles at him and watches him the closest. Too bad, he doesn't really like her! He has been getting in trouble for growling and trying to bite her hands. Hopefully he gets more used to her.
*Her giggle is the cutest thing ever! It's still few and far between and she definitely makes us work for it, but it's so worth it! I could laugh at her for hours.
*She is getting more and more cuddly. I love it! And she gives us loves now too. Her own form of hugs, kisses, and an occasional bite...ouch! Her slober kisses melt my heart!
*She weighs about 16.5 lbs, but doesn't see the doctor till next month. She fits well in 6-9 month clothing.
*She hates hates hates her diaper changed in the middle of the night. And so does mommy! This is when her temper really comes out. She kicks her feet, squirms, and screams as loud as she can. It takes about 3 times as long as it should.
*She is such a wild child. I can tell we have many bumps and bruises ahead of us. So far she has mastered escaping out of her Bumbo with the tray on it, hanging out of her swing (I'm sure she could get out of it if I didn't catch her first), somersaulting forward out of her bouncy chair, and crawling straight off the bed. She can also pull herself up to the edge of her bassinet. Sadly, we have nicknamed her "The Beast." Guess it's better than "Piglet"- her first nickname for her first few weeks of life. Poor girl!
*She continues to ham it up for the camera...as you can see in the pictures! Generally she is either happy or mad, there isn't much in between. And there isn't much transition time either!
*Her eyes are still a bluish green color but there are flecks of brown in them too. I'm still holding out for her to have brown eyes like mommy. Whatever they end up I am sure they will be beautiful but everyone says she look like her daddy so maybe I can win one in that department:)
*Her hair is coming back in. It's getting longer and a little thicker. It's also lightened up quite a bit since birth. It's kind of fuzzy and unruly right now.
*Just today I noticed a little white bump on her top gums in the middle. Could be another tooth, cant quite till right now. She still only has her bottom middle two.
We couldn't love this little "beast" anymore!

Kels & Gary, I so enjoy reading your blog and the pictures...also the music that goes with it. Delaney is so loved and so cute. Thanks for sharing. Love , Grandma Dixie
