Officially full term in about 30 more minutes! I love this milestone. So happy and blessed to make it to term with another baby. Being in the business I am in, I see often that not everyone gets this blessing and I am very thankful to experience it a 3rd time. I don't feel ready anytime soon to meet this sweet baby but it's so reassuring to know that if he did decide to come any day, he would more than likely be ok and get to stay with me without needing extra tests and observations. My history says it will still be several weeks but only time will tell. I just got back from a fun girls dinner to celebrate this little one and having one last night before spending all my nights adjusting to a new baby. I also worked last night and slept well today so I am feeling very awake at this moment and not ready for sleep anytime soon....even though it's almost midnight:{ Aww, the problems that come with night shift! I guess it's a good time to write down how the last few weeks have been going....
Work is becoming very difficult. We are busy and not as well staffed as we normally are so that is creating an extra strain on an already difficult 12 hours. I think working until I deliver will be harder than it was with my last two pregnancies, and if I make it until then will be a miracle.
I forget how hard these last few weeks are. My biggest complaint is probably the lack of sleep and the return of nausea. Surprisingly the lack of sleep isn't from being uncomfortable. I think it's just a hormone thing that happens to me during pregnancy where I just CAN NOT fall asleep. It usually takes me until 3 am and then I only get a few hours of sleep till it's time to wake up. I drag myself around the house barely functioning until about noon and then a small amount of energy usually kicks in to get me through the rest of the day. It's just an awful feeling to be so exhausted. My nausea has come back pretty strong too. I am sure the exhaustion doesn't help but some days even with good sleep, I feel like throwing up all day long. Reminds me of being pregnant with Delaney. Other than those two things, that are making me miserable, the heartburn and aches and pains are the main things that make my days/nights challenging.
I had my first appointment in almost 6 weeks on Monday. I learned that baby is almost certainly head down, my cervix is dilated 1 cm, and my GBS test is negative. All good things. I have been worried about his position since he has been breech in past ultrasounds and am relieved to not have to deal with getting antibiotics during this labor like I did with Cannon. I was slightly bummed I wasn't more dilated, but I will take 1 cm over a closed cervix any day so I can't complain. I was only 1 cm at this point with Cannon so I am not really concerned that I am not more dilated. Hopefully that changes over the next few weeks:) This doctor, not the one who has delivered both my other babies, said he doesn't think this baby is "too big." He asked me what I thought and I said, I have no idea. Because I don't. I have been told I don't look as big as I did with my last pregnancy but who knows! I guess we will find out soon:) I have an appointment next week to get an estimated size checked with ultrasound and a standard OB appointment. So maybe we'll know some more next week!
Just hate this picture of me...but it's what Gary got and shows my large 37 week baby bump so...
