First off, pumpkin pictures! Of course, Holden had to take his turn in a pumpkin this year. He's the youngest of mine to go in a pumpkin and he handled it really well. I thought he'd scream the whole time, but he didn't. He was a little confused by it all, but basically just chilled long enough for a few pictures and let me know when he had had enough. Since Gary was gone hunting, the carving part was left up to me this year. Luckily, we had some help from Grandma and we didn't do to bad! I only offered the kids, the "easy" patterns. Delaney picked a moon and Cannon picked the spider. Delaney was a big help this year and sifted through the pumpkin "guts" to fish out the seeds. That was always my job when I was little and it's fun to pass on that tradition to her. It took her about almost one minute to retrieve one seed, but hey it's a start;)
It was fun to have two active participants in Halloween this year. Delaney has known she either wanted to be Ariel or Jasmine since last Halloween. She settled on Jasmine in August sometime and never wavered from her decision. So, Jasmine it was. Cannon said, "yup" to everyone I asked him about being. So, I had to make the call and we did another themed year. It may be the last time I can get them to all coordinate, so I took advantage. Cannon wasn't really that into dressing up but he put the costume on in order to get some candy. I don't think he would have worn it if it wasn't for that small detail. I thought he'd love to dress up since Delaney has him decked out on any given day and he is delighted with that. I am sure next year he will have more to say about things. It was a lot of work to get a good group shot of them. So hard that I forgot to take any pictures when we were out celebrating Halloween. Thankfully other mommas snapped a few. The weather wasn't great so we didn't get to do our typical Trick-or-Treating on the popular street we always hit but we went downtown before the rain started. By the time we got there, most of the candy was gone so we did more walking than anything. Uncle Chris and Aunt Denee were in town so it was hang out with Ryan, Livi, and Grandma for a bit. We met at Grandma's new house for pizza before we headed out for more candy. We did the Home Depot thing again this year and filled the kids buckets with candy. It was still cold and wet when we were done so we went out with some friends for drinks. Afterwards we swung by the church harvest party, but it was closing down. They had 3 HUGE buckets of leftover candy that they told the kids they could help themselves to. He told them to take handfuls of it if they wanted to. Delaney took 2 or 3 pieces and Cannon took 1. Guess they need some training in the Trick-or-Treat department still. The kids were thrilled with their buckets of candy and had a good night even though the weather wasn't the greatest.
