Our first 3 1/2 weeks...

Wow, time has seemed to go fast. I guess that will be the case from now on. It already makes me sad to think about how much Delaney changes each day and how fast she is growing. What makes me even more sad is the thought of going back to work and leaving my baby:( I try not to think about it. Anyways, things are going well here. I feel a little more adjusted to parenthood now and am feeling more and more "normal" everyday. Sometimes I get tired of being cooped up in the house, but Gary has been good at getting me out and about when I need it. And we still have quite a few visitors to keep us busy and provide me with someone else to talk with besides a baby!

What we have learned about Delaney over the last 3 weeks....

You LOVE to eat! I knew this within your first few hours of life, but you really haven't slowed down much:) You regained your birth weight by 1 week old and at your 2week appointment you weighed 9# 14 oz. I was told babies gain 1/2 to 1 oz a day at this stage, and you have been gaining almost 2 oz a day! The pediatrician laughed when he saw your weight gain and said, "I guess she has figured out the eating thing!" You are very serious when you are nursing. You raise your eyebrows all the time like you are checking to see if I am paying attention to you.

Your favorite time of the day seems to be around 8-10 am. After waking up at about 7, I feed you and then you spend about an hour or two awake and happy. You stare at me while I talk to you and make the funniest facial expressions including some pretty serious scowls and pursing your little lips. This is my favorite time of day with you too. I don't get anything done but staring and talking to you...falling more and more in love each morning.

You hate sleeping on your back or flat surfaces, unless it's next to me in our bed. It took us about 3 nights to figure this out. Three long nights! We tried everything to get you to sleep in your pack and play like we intended it for. You would sleep for about 10 minutes and then get very upset. We quickly learned you don't like the dark or silence. Your dad and I went from sleeping in a very cold, dark, and quiet room to a room so warm we sweat through the night, a bright night light, and the sound of "white noise" made by a giraffe stuffed animal. Wow, how life has changed! You also sleep in your car seat in the pack and play while it vibrates you to sleep.

You never really fit in newborn clothes. You are too long for them, you can't stretch your legs out straight in most of them. 0-3 month size seems to fit you best but even some of those are too small and some 3 month clothing fits you perfect.

You are a very sweet baby, but bless your heart you are so dramatic when you want to be. When you are mad it's not long before we know it. For instance when your music or lights turn off, you instantly let us know. I guess it keeps us on our toes!

You love music and love to be sang to. Especially when I sing Kenny Chesney songs to you. Thank God you don't mind my awful voice, at least Kenny's beautiful words make up for it:)

This post took way too long to go through all the pictures for the last month so I am going to make it a goal to keep up better on blogging. I am going to try to post something once a week so I don't get behind again like this.

Happy Birthday ice cream cake from the hospital

Berkley checking out his new sister for the first time

He had to get a closer look and sniff

He's not to sure about all of her noises or her flailing arms!

"Really Mom? Do we have to keep her?" Every time I go somewhere now he always checks to see if I brought her back with me. I can't tell yet if he is happy or sad when I bring her car seat in.

They still love me!

Our first hours at home were so overwhelming

Our first pediatrician appointment. Doctor says she looks great!

She LOVES her hands...so much that she hates being swaddled. She can work her way out of about anything to get a hold of her hands.

Not to sure about the Moby wrap yet. We keep trying but I think she finds it to constricting. Of course her arms have to be out which makes it hard to use it correctly.

Hanging out with Brody Bear

She loved her first bath and continues to love them

One of the only hats that fits her head....guess she takes after the Stevenson's large head circumferences.

Was not in the mood for pictures

Momma and Delaney

Playing with Daddy at the computer...this only lasts about 2 minutes because she gets bored since Gary is paying attention to the computer and not her. Gary says she is already high maintenance.

Lazy weekend
Our first walk along the dike. I told Gary she would sleep the whole time and I was right. She loves her car seat and sleeps almost every time you put her in it. It's nice for running errands, hope it continues!
One of her favorite sleeping positions
