Alaska

In May, Delaney and I took our first trip to Alaska to stay at Grandpa and Grandma's lodge. We had a great time!

We didn't start the trip off so great though! We were not able to get to sleep until about 11 pm that night and had to get up to catch our plane at about 3 am. So 4 hours of sleep, right? Wrong! Miss Delaney had a much different idea! Since it was her first time, since she was little, sleeping in the big bed with mom she decided to go crazy! She would not sleep! I had to make Gary sleep on the other side of the bed so she couldn't get out and she was all over the place. She truly didn't fall asleep till after 1 am. We were all miserable. It was so hard to wake her up when 3:00 rolled around. She is used to about 12 hours of sleep and on the day we expected her to sit on a plane and be good all day, she had only had about 2 hours of sleep. Surprisingly she did really well on the way there and did much worse on the way home with a full night sleep.

Here is our 2 hour of sleep airport look

Finally getting to Alaska

Happy to be off that plane!

Can't believe she fell asleep and slept the whole time

Mommy and Daddy went on an all day trip without baby and saw these cute sea lions!

This was momma's favorite part.  They were sooooo cute and ornery!  They wouldn't let everyone up on their little perch.

So happy to get back to our baby!

I had to include a picture of our sleeping arrangements, because it was quite the battle every night.  We learned Delaney definitely prefers her own space while she sleeps.  The beginning of the trip started off okay, although it would take literally hours for her to fall asleep.  She was not used to momma being in bed with her and thought it was so much fun.  She would climb all over me, sit straight up, pull my hair, laugh, giggle, and kick!  The first couple nights I actually enjoyed it.  I felt like we had girl time each night before bed.  I would tell her stories and we would giggle uncontrollably.  She would eventually fall asleep (sideways) and sleep well till morning.  It wasn't till the last few nights that it was really becoming hard.  She got more unruly and unhappy and took forever to fall asleep.  I think she was very ready to have her own bed again, and so was I.

On the plane going home, the flight was pretty empty so Delaney had her own seat.  She looked like such a big girl.
