8 Weeks

An exciting week around here!  Most importantly and the best part of the week was seeing the baby.  We had our first ultrasound.  Baby's heartbeat was around 170's and everything looked great!  The doctor triple checked to make sure there were not 2, since he said he just had a dream that he missed twins!  After he looked twice, I told him to do another scan around to make sure!  It was a new doctor, but I have worked with him a few times and he seems really great.  He did his residency in New York, so is up on all the latest and greatest OB care.  We were the same gestation with this baby as we were when we first saw Delaney, but this time it looked more like a blob instead of the little bear we saw with Delaney.  I thought she looked just like a gummy bear, but this time you really couldn't make much out because he did an abdominal ultrasound instead of the more invasive kind.  Anyways, we look forward to seeing the baby again at the end of October.  Other than that the appointment was pretty standard.

Week 7-8 is also when the full blown nausea hit again.  At least it waited a little longer this time!  I thought since I hadn't had much of it yet, maybe it was just going to be mild this time but I was wrong.  When I worked my 5 day stretch is when it was at it's worst.  I just barley made it through all those shifts.  All it took was this week to remember just how miserable I was with Delaney.  It's usually worse in the morning and sometimes at night.  Even though it doesn't seem to be as often, it seems more intense this time.  And having a 20 month old jump all over you does not help...at all!  Ugh!  I just keep reminding myself how great the end result is and how lucky and blessed we are to be carrying another sweet baby.

Delaney loves to explore my tummy these days.  The other day I told her there was a baby in there and she leaned over and tried to look through my belly button.  It was so funny and cute.  She also loves to give the baby kisses and pats my stomach while saying, "awww."  She is so sweet!  I can't wait for her to meet this little one.

Here is little bean #2
