1 Month Old!
Cannon is already a month old! His time as a baby is going by so much faster than I remember this time with Delaney going, probably because life with 2 is so busy I don't even have time to think:) Anyways, Cannon is doing great. Growing like a weed. I don't know how much he weighs but his chubby cheeks and belly tell me he is doing quite well. And the fact that I am already boxing up his 3 month clothes:( Way too fast!
He has many similarities to Delaney as a baby. If he's in his bouncer he likes it to be rocked with the vibration turned on. In his swing he starts crying when the birds and music turn off. He likes you to move and talk to him when he is being held. He isn't excessively fussy but when he is, it's really hard to make him happy. I think his tummy bothers him a lot and he seems to get some relief by holding him with pressure on his belly. Poor little guy.
He is also different in ways. He likes to cuddle way more than Delaney ever did. He would prefer to sleep on my chest all the time, Delaney would never do this. He likes his swing for his naps. I could tell from the beginning that he would do well as a co-sleeping baby, but that isn't really something I wanted to do so we haven't encouraged it too much.
He doesn't like taking a bottle. In fact, he won't take one at this point. Hopefully we figure this out before I go back to work:( He likes to grunt...a lot. Most the time it's just because:)
He has given me a couple small smiles but not the real big ones yet.
He likes to eat small amounts throughout the day. He often eats every hour or so, instead of eating a full meal and waiting a few hours. It's quite frustrating but I know he is still young so I am hoping he figures this out soon.
The first couple weeks of sleep were a little rough, but now things are much better. He sleeps for about 5 hours, eats, then sleeps for 2-3 hours, is awake for 1-2 hours then back to sleep for about an hour. He slept in his car seat the first few weeks because that is the only way I could get him to sleep more than an hour at a time, but we have transitioned to sleep sacks now and his pack-n-play and is sleeping just as well on his back. And usually he goes right back to sleep after he eats. He is doing really well right now with sleeping, I hope it continues.
He doesn't like pacifiers. He would take one occasionally his first few weeks of life but has decided to kick the habit all together now:) Now he acts like you are poisoning him when you try to give him one. He gags and turns his head to spit it out.
He still has a fine layer of dark brown hair and eyebrows. His eyes are still slate gray with a hint of blue. He is very expressive with his eyebrows and often looks grumpy.
