2.5 Years with Delaney

Our little 2 and a 1/2 year old has really started to grow up over the last few months.  She is becoming such a little girl.  She has been loving being a big sister and continues to be head-over-heals in love with her baby bro.  She is still her same tenacious and strong willed self but continues to balance it out well with her sweet and tender heart.  We love her so much and are bitter-sweetly enjoying watching her grow into the little lady she is becoming.

She seems to be a little more reasonable these days and although she still throws fits, they are easier to control and they don't last quite as long.  She is also listening a little better.  It used to be that if you told her "no", she would act like she didn't hear you and continue to do the thing you didn't want her to do.  Now it's a little better and she will actually listen most of the time.  Of course we still have moments that she chooses to not listen and be naughty but it's getting better...and now that I said that tomorrow will probably be filled with all kinds of naughtiness!

She has made leaps and bounds with her speech.  She went from rarely saying a word to saying phrases of two words and sometimes three words.  She can say almost every word you ask her to or at least tries to and she initiates most of her speech on her own.  A lot of her vocabulary is difficult to understand but she is doing great at trying to let us know what she needs now.  All the words she says are so cute and sound so sweet I wish I could capture them all on video to have forever.  Some of my favorites are purple, more, thank-you, and napkin.  She still has her trademark "yea-owl", which means yes and no.  She starts off saying yes and then changes her mind and ends it with a no. She still answers pretty much every question with a yes, unless it involves the words sleep or nap!

Speaking of telling us what she needs...She now can open the pantry door and the refrigerator door.  And I have caught her opening the front door as well.  She can pretty much open every door in the house now...Oh Boy!

She loves to run, dance and play in the water.  She also loves bubbles and her wagon.  Her favorite thing to do in the wagon is to try to run the dogs over:(  She thinks it's hilarious and laughs so hard.

I love to make her laugh so hard she giggles.  It's the cutest thing and makes me giggle too:)  Sometimes we just sit and laugh at each other and can't stop.  Bed time stories often create a giggle session.

I sang "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" to her one night and she now insists on it every night.  She has even started singing with me.  It melts my heart.  She sings it as "Tinkle, Tinkle." She always asks for "more tinkle" after I finish, and I tell her "more tinkle tomorrow." She repeats back to me "more tinkle tomorrow."  It doesn't get any sweeter!

She still sleeps well and sleeps for about 10-11 hours at night and usually a 2 hour nap in the afternoon.

She does the cutest, "tickle, tickle" E-V-E-R! I need to get it on video.

We haven't really started potty training yet because I don't feel like she is ready but she has gone potty in her little toilet a couple times.  She always goes potty in the shower and bath so Gary thought it would be a good idea to put her toilet in the shower and have her sit on it to potty.  She has been successful and has started to tell us more about going potty after she already has, so I think we may be getting close to start potty training.

She has spent much of her summer, naked in her pool outside.

She is officially registered for Baby Ballet.  I am so excited, maybe even more than she is.  I think she will do great or at least have fun doing it:)

She has a found a love for Curious George.  Somehow she discovered him on YouTube on the ipad and now can find him and watch him on her own.

She's a picky eater and goes through stages of certain foods.  I hope someday she decides to like vegetables again!

She still smiles with her eyes squinted shut.  It's hard to get a real smile out of her for pictures.

She went to the dentist for the first time this last month.  She did surprisingly well.  All they did was look this time, but she did everything they asked her to.  He said her teeth look great...yeah!
