4 Months!

Well, today Cannon actually turns 5 months old but I am a little behind on blogging.  We have had a busy month so unfortunately blogging has taken a back seat for a while. Between dental work, preschool tours, Gary going hunting,  mandatory work meetings/training, and a very fussy teething baby--we have had little time for anything else.  I feel like this month has been the hardest with 2 so far.  I have had only minutes here and there of time to myself which are usually filled with cleaning or catching up on other important stuff.  I am still loving being a mom to two, but I have really learned just how important "nap time" can be to mommies.   Anyways, I am going to try to catch up before the busy holiday season hits.

*At about 4.5 months old, Cannon's first tooth popped through.  We are hoping that explains his extra fussy behavior.  About a week or so later, his second also came through.  Gary said one day he was bleeding where they broke through.  Poor little guy.

*Cannon has changed his sleep patterns so much this last month.  He was sleeping through the night for Gary and waking up only once for me.  Now he is all over the place!  Sometimes he wakes up 3 times for me and sometimes only once still.  He seems to be taking milk better from the bottle and is drinking up to 9 oz at night.  It's hard to keep him up past 7 pm, but since Delaney goes to sleep around 9, I would like him to go to sleep a little later so he doesn't wake up as early.  Once 7:00 hits he is a mess though.  Nothing makes him happy except going to sleep.  Gary always just puts him to sleep, but I try my hardest to keep him awake until 8.  He usually wakes up somewhere in between 6:30 and 8:00.

*Nap time has become a very frustrating battle at this point.  There are only a few ways he will sleep-that all consist of me getting nothing done!  They are riding in his car seat, taking a walk in the stroller, and while he is eating.  I think this has been the most frustrating change for me.  He really does not nap well or at all right now even though he is extremely tired.  His tiredness makes him very fussy and not easily contented at all--which means I end up holding him most of the day.  You can tell in his pictures his cheeks look a little red.  This is because he spends much time in the front pack where he slobbers a ton and then rubs his cheeks back and forth.  Because of his new found fussy behavior I have given him a pacifier lately.  He now takes it and it gives me a little sanity here and there!  Sometimes I can get him to nap after feeding him by putting him in bed with me, but he keeps close tabs on me by putting his hand on my face or chest so that he knows if I try to escape!  He wakes up almost instantly if I try to get out of bed.

*He is much more mobile now.  He can roll both ways and know how to roll to get where he needs to go.  He also gets up on his elbows and tries to scoot places.  He ends up going backwards though and then gets mad.  It wont be long before he is crawling.  He is very determined to get places right now.  He already arches his back when you try to put him in his car seat--I know, we are in trouble!  Since he was a new baby he has always tried to do a sit up in whatever contraption he was put in.  He is no longer trusted in his swing, bouncer, or Bumbo without straps or very close supervision.

*He has to have a toy or something to play with at all times.  In the Bumbo, his bouncer, sitting on my lap, etc.  He gets bored easily, that's why he likes to be held and packed so much.  Delaney is good at getting him a toy to play with. He reminds me so much of Delaney at this age--needing constant interaction or entertainment.

*Delaney and Cannon have been interacting more and more.  I just love this.  She is so sweet with him.  She loves to give him kisses and often puts her arm around him.  She is just dying for him to play with her.  She has never once seemed like she wishes he wasn't around.  She constantly talks about "baby" still.

*He still hates baths. Even more so now that he has been moved into the baby bath instead of his bath cushion.  There was a brief time where I thought he was liking them but I really don't think he has ever "liked" them.  I am hoping he likes them more when he can sit up in them and play a little.  Delaney is patiently waiting for brother to be able to take a bath with her.

*He has such a great smile.  He loves to smile and can now giggle as well.  These are two of my absolute favorite things about this age.  When he isn't tired he is a pretty happy lil guy.

*He is still a good little eater.  Unfortunately we had an incident this month with breast milk.  I still can't really talk/think about it without getting sick to my stomach.   Gary put a bunch of unfrozen meat in the freezer with all of my breast milk not knowing that this would drop the temperature of everything in the freezer.  Gary found my milk almost all the way thawed out one day.  He quickly refroze it and since then after some research I have found that it should still be okay for Cannon.  The problem is Cannon won't drink it.  We are still hanging onto in hopes of being able to use it but I am completely devastated.  I am not mad at Gary and don't blame him, I know it was an accident but for anyone who has ever pumped milk before I am sure you understand my devastation.  It was hours upon hours of my time and efforts and my baby's source of food--and there was a ton of it.  We never had this much over supply with Delaney so it has been so reassuring to have so much extra this time around.  Now we are back to square one, with NO extra milk.  We will get through it and I will try my hardest to build up another supply for my baby--but it still sucks!

*His eyes are a dark green color right now.  I think they will end up being the same as Delaney's.  His hair is starting to come in more too.  It is a light golden brown color.  He is still very expressive with his eyebrows.

Look at this sweet boy.  Although he has been cranky this month he is still so much fun and so sweet.  He keeps me busy that is for sure but I am loving having this precious little momma's boy in my life.  We love you more than words can describe!
