Delaney Updates

Of course I did not prompt this photo:

Delaney is changing so rapidly that I feel like it's time for another update.   She is still her same fire-cracker self with even more attitude, sass, and opinion.  We love this spirited little girl more than anything though and are loving watching her grow up--although very bittersweet.

*Delaney thankfully is still an excellent sleeper averaging about 12 hours of straight sleep each night and a 1-3 hour nap each day.  Yesterday she napped for 4 hours!  This is unheard of though, and I am sure a one time occasion as today she napped for about an hour.  At least one kid is sleeping well in this house:)

*We have gently attempted potty training and are faced with a big fat "nope" from Delaney at this time.  I have even bribed her with princess shoes.  This girl isn't budging at the moment.   I know she is totally capable but she is just not willing yet.  Hopefully soon she will want to try.

*She is still in her crib--which she absolutely loves.  I think this one may also be a battle someday.  We are wanting to give the crib to Cannon soon, but she I am sure will have much to say about that.  She somersaults into her crib.  I think that means she is too big for a crib.  She also still has about 50+ blankets and toys that live and sleep in her crib.  She has very little space to herself and that is the way she likes it.

*She is very much into pretending now.  She loves to "cook" in her kitchen and often brings Gary and I things to "eat."

*Her worst behavior is when it is time to go.  Anytime we have to leave the store, park, or anywhere else she doesn't want to leave she throws a massive fit usually ending with me pulling her by the arm or packing her while she squirms, kicks, bites, etc.--all while packing the baby and his car seat or pushing the stroller.  Ready to get out of this phase...anytime now!

*Somewhere she learned to pull Gary and I's heads together to make us kiss.  I have no idea where she came up with this.

*She can pretty much undress herself completely and get most of herself dressed with a little help.  She is very independent about certain things like her socks, shoes, and any kind of straps.   She also loves to wear jeans.  Even on a day where we are just hanging out at home.  I try to get her to wear "cozy" pants but she would rather wear jeans.  I think because she likes that they have, "my pockets" as Delaney calls them.

*The things she says:

She is very good at saying "thank you," not so good at saying "please" yet.

She says, "have it," when she wants something or when she wants to give you something.

She says, "make it," whenever you talk about any type of cooking/preparing food .

The other day I asked her if she loved me.  She said, "no."  I said, "Do you love dad?"  She again said, "no."  This went on as I asked her about the puppies and her brother.  They were also, "no's."  Then I said, "Who do you love?"  She answered with, "Santa!"

When she is sad, gets in trouble or gets hurt she says,  "mommy, mommy, mommy!"  In a very sad voice of course.   Breaks-my-heart.  She also insists that I be the one to change her diaper, make her food, or get her dressed.  And then cries if I try to have Gary do it instead.  Little stinker.  Still a mommy's girl:)

She can count to 10 with a little help.  And knows several colors.  She can sing parts of her ABC's as well with a little help.

There are only a few times that Gary or I can't understand what she is trying to tell us, she is very good at showing us what she means though.
