7 & 8 Month Post

Baby Cannon is almost 10 months old now! I am a bit behind on his updates so it's well overdue. Cannon is still a sensitive little guy who loves his mommy. He of course loves his sister and daddy as well, but he seems to really love hanging out with me and I am going to soak it up for now!

Cannon just loves food so much. He loves everything! We haven't found a single thing yet that he won't eat. It's a quick fix for the fussiest of his moods as well. I think he would eat 6 meals a day or more if we let him. And this is of course along with all of his milk as well. Gary used to claim Delaney had a "milk belly" and a "food belly." And they apparently both need frequent fill-ups! Cannon seems to do the same thing. No wonder he's growing like a weed.

Right before he turned 8 months old, we transitioned him into his own room. I was getting pretty desperate because he kept waking up so often and then would only go back to sleep if I put him in bed with me. We had a few really long nights before deciding we needed a change. Surprisingly, he did really well. The first few weeks were unpredictable but on occasion he actually slept through the night! And knock-on-wood, but for the last week he has been sleeping through the night! It's been amazing! And he is napping better in his room too! I sure hope he continues this, because we are all a little happier and more rested lately:)  Update:  I wrote this about a month ago...Sadly, the sleep has gone down hill:(  Still better than in the past, but it's back to unpredictable.  Sometimes he wakes up only minimally, others it's often and hard to get him back to sleep.  I have limited his night nursing to only once, so it is nice to be in the habit of only having to feed him once or sometimes not at all.

Cannon just started getting his top two teeth a few weeks ago. Once they come all the way in, he will have 4. He likes to use them to bite these days, just like his sister used to do.  Update:  He is working on 4 more now!  Poor guy basically got all 6 teeth within a month!

Cannon has figured out how to get into so much more now. He continues to love to get into trouble with the dog's food and water. He also loves to take the white knob off all the door stoppers and can reach the toilet paper!  He can also get his little hand under the toilet seat to play in the water:( He's a little stinker, but he's too cute to get too mad at him.

Cannon can stand by himself for a few seconds, but hasn't tried to take any steps yet. I think he will soon though.

He has started to really laugh hard! It's the absolute cutest thing E-V-E-R! He laughed hysterically when we were cleaning off his sister's bed and throwing stuff animals his way. He laughs at himself when he gets caught in the curtains. And giggled his little heart out at Delaney when she was playing with her elk bugle.

I've decided Cannon may never be a great napper. But at least he is napping now! Sometimes they are only 20 minute naps but at least he lets me set him down for a bit. He takes 2 short naps pretty much every day.

Cannon stopped drinking milk from a bottle when Gary is home. He goes from 5:30 pm till 8:30 am without milk-and usually sleeps through the night for Gary. I don't get it, but it seems to work for them. When I am home he still nurses about 5x a day.

Cannon has the saddest fat puffy lip when he's scared or sad. It's so sad too! He tries so hard not to cry sometimes but he just can't help it sometimes. He's such a tender little guy. If a stranger (especially a male) comes to the house and tries to talk to him, he gets a big pouty face and either loses it or hold himself together and stays very cautious...and close to mom!

Cannon also has rosy cheeks.  I noticed it a long time ago but you can really see them in his 7 month pictures.  But he was also sick then too.  They come and go.  They get more red when he is sick or has dry skin but sometimes get them just because he is warm.    It just adds to his cute chubby cheeks:)
