It's a Boy!
I am at the end of week 18 as I am writing this and am trying to
remember what all has gone on lately. My pregnancy brain seems to be at
it's worst right now, and it is 4 am at work while I am typing so it
will probably have to be revisited later. At the end of week 16, we
were able to do a fun ultrasound at my work with a student needing
practice. It was nice because there was no real agenda and we spent
tons of time looking at baby. Much different than the rushed ones at
the doctors office. The baby was moving quite a bit and I am beginning
to feel more and more movement. It really is such a great feeling and
probably my favorite part about pregnancy. It makes the nausea and
other ailments seem so insignificant and helps take my mind of feeling
so miserable. We were also able to get a pretty clear shot of this
little ones gender and feel pretty confident sharing the news that we
are expecting a baby boy in May. At first when she started scanning the
gender area I thought I saw the same image we saw with Delaney and said
it looks like a girl, but then she got a much better view and it was
obvious that it was not the same image! She was a very new student with
little experience so she was nervous about me thinking it was a boy,
but I am pretty sure the picture we were able to snap proves this baby is
all boy. At first I wasn't sure if we should tell people until we did
the "official" ultrasound but it was too hard to wait and slowly we have
shared the news. We are very excited to welcome a sweet boy into our
family and give Delaney a brother. I really thought this baby was a
girl, so I am still in a little shock trying to get used to the idea of a
boy but I can't wait to experience the other side of things and have a
son. We are feeling very blessed and are continuing to pray for a
healthy baby.
All boy!
I don't think we ever got a shot like this with Delaney, and to be honest it's a little scary!
Much better! I know why they stick to profile pics.
Sweet feet...they look huge to me!
We also had our routine doctors appointment the same day. Besides a little weight loss and my ongoing 30 day cold, everything went well. The nurse practitioner seemed a little bothered by my weight loss and told me I needed to start drinking smoothies with weight gainer. After I reminded her that I didn't gain much weight with Delaney and still had a large baby she agreed I could wait to see how the next few weeks go. I am not worried in the slightest, in fact just this week I am starting to gain the weight back and I am confident it is only going up from here. And she put me on an antibiotic that I was hoping would knock out this cold for good but after almost 10 days on it, it's still lingering. I was hoping my recent string of migraines was related to the sinus congestion I have been struggling with but as that has gotten a little better, the migraines have gotten worse. Migraines and nausea, awesome combination!.....one day at a time....one day at a time. Even though I say this daily, I would do this as long as necessary for my babies even though it's been very difficult this time around. And I never forget how blessed we have been with both babies and am hoping for a continued relatively uneventful pregnancy.
As soon as I found out the sex, I started pushing Gary for a name. He so far wouldn't hardly talk about it because we didn't know the sex and he said it was pointless until we did. Now that that has changed, I demanded he tell me at least one boy name that he liked since I have yet to hear even one. I can tell this is going to be quite the battle but am hoping we settle on something we can both agree on soon. I really like having my names ahead of time so I told him he has a month to help me name this child! Boy names have always been difficult for us!
With Delaney I remember around 16-17 weeks, "I popped" and my stomach seemed to change dramatically all of the sudden. The same thing happened this time. I think it was around 17 weeks, I felt like I went from not showing to showing.
This is as real as real gets. My sick all day pregnancy look. Messy hair, little makeup, and a pale face with purple circles. But look how big this baby has gotten!
