Traditionally I have always made Gary brownies with my due date to tell him about the new baby coming. This time he already knew and we happened to be making Christmas cookies so he got a cookie instead. Gary already knew because I just couldn't keep it in this time. I found out right at the beginning of a long work stretch. My first night at work, I found out two of my coworkers were expecting. I was a little bummed because I had just gotten a negative pregnancy test. It seemed like it was taking forever after my miscarriage to get pregnant. Although, I know in hindsight it really didn't take that long and I am very fortunate to be able to get pregnant fairly easily. I try not to forget how blessed I am to be able to conceive at all, I know it is a true gift. It just seemed a little harder after my miscarriage. It was the very next morning that I found a faint positive pregnancy test. I hate telling him when we can't celebrate the news together so I planned on keeping it in until I was done working. I ended up being put on call my last shift. I rarely get put on call so we decided to take the kids to see Santa Claus and then go out for pizza. On our way to the car after seeing Santa, Gary said something about our kids growing up too fast and missing their ages. I just had to tell him at that time that we will be doing it all over again in August!

We told the kids after a few weeks because we knew we were probably
going to end up telling family around Christmas time. I know they are
too little to understand much but Delaney seems to be excited. I think
she is a little confused that it's going to be awhile before there is a
new baby here.
We are so thrilled to add another little one to the bunch! We know it will be even more crazy but that's what we live for these days! Delaney has said from very early on that she thinks the baby is a boy. It's been a little odd actually. She came to me one morning and said, "Mom, I think the baby is a boy." I asked her more about it and asked her if she wanted a baby sister at all. She said not really, and told me she would like to have another little brother. Now that we know it's a boy, I feel better about all of this and am glad she is getting her wish. It's just been weird that she has had so much intuition about this baby. I hope she is right and she enjoys having another little brother!
